Recording the “Trivolution” album with Billboard Emerging Artist Gabriel Palatchi and drummer Chema Gonzalez in Mexico City in 2015. Trivolution has now gone on to win the World Music Awards “Top Ten Albums of 2015” as well as their “Fan Choice” award – woot!
It’s fun when someone covers one of your tunes, but it’s particularly cool when Cory Weeds send you his new disk and Joey DeFrancesco’s playing it! Originally written back when I was starting out and playing at the Hotel Vancouver’s Panorama Roof, “Roofin’ It” was a little dashed-off-in-ten-minutes alternative to tunes like ‘Mercy Mercy Mercy’ but in the hands of this band it’s pretty sweet.
Recording with Sweatshop Union was a blast (I played bass on about half the tracks from Local 604). As Wiki says, “Known for an inventive and socially conscious sound, Sweatshop Union’s music focuses on being “honest”—commenting on issues ranging from the war in Iraq to the plight of the poor and working-class to the negativity and misogyny of mainstream hip-hop.” Great group, great message and a great sound!
