The Default Project (Default Project.ppj)
Note that the Default Project can cause serious, show-stopping issues with PARIS. Set to 44.1k, it can disable multiple MEC rigs (for multi-MEC systems your default project must be set to 48k)
John Bercik walks us through the process:
originally from JohnBercik John Bercik's PARIS Notes site; formatted and edited by Kerry Galloway '08
- Make a template song with your favorite/most frequently used settings
- Save the project as "Default Project.ppj" in C:\Program Files\E-MU\PARIS Pro
Everytime you start a new project it will open; all of your settings will be there waiting for you! The same is true for effects selection, aux settings, windows preferences, etc.
John's settings as a suggested starting point:
In Editor Window
- Use Constrained Mode
- Enable Settings / "Show Object Names"
- Set "Now Line" to start at about the 30 second mark to allow for pre-roll automation.
- Set Zero Point at 30 sec.
- DISABLE "Show meters as Post Fader"
- DISABLE "Show Instrument Assignment"
- Set up commonly used Native / EDS effects so they are ready.
- Set up the EQ to "real world standards" on each channel, instead of the default 4bands of 1k.
- Suggestions by band: 1) 80Hz/rolloff 2) 650Hz/2.5Q sweep 3) 2k/2.5Q sweep, 4) 6k/rolloff.
- Set reverb on Aux 1
- Set delay on Aux 2
- Set headphone send as Aux 8
- Name effect returns after the submix number; all submixes are already created.
- Enable Automation
I have a drum mix that I love. Since I rarely change the way I record the drums I copy the mixer settings including, compression, eq and and so forth to my default project.
